Due to the current lockdown and the social distancing measures that are in place to keep everyone safe, two key ‘real world’ events in the Art Practice degree programme calendar have sadly had to be cancelled this academic year. Both our Level 4 and 5 student groups were due to exhibit and sell some of their creative outcomes as part of the modules they have been working on – this included an ‘in house’ exhibition at West Suffolk College for Level 4 and attendance at a maker’s fair in Norwich for Level 5. In lieu of this, we decided to take both of these events online. This page provides links to both our level 5 student’s online e-commerce site (Tetradbookart) where you can view and buy a range of artist’s books, as well as links to individual websites created by our Level 4 students for their recent module ‘Showcase’. From our students and the Art Practice staff team, thank you for visiting and I hope you like some of the amazing creative work that has been created this year.
BA(Hons) Art Practice Level 5
Tetradbookart is an online webstore showcasing the work of a small collaborative group of four BA (Hons) Art Practice students studying at West Suffolk College School of Art & Design in Bury St Edmunds, UK. In response to a brief requiring the creation of limited edition Artist Books, Elaine, Eleanor, James and Sarah formed Tetrad in March 2020. Tetrad (meaning a group or set of four) is a small but diverse collective of undergraduate artists, each working towards becoming professional art practitioners in a range of specialisms. This diversity can be seen in the outcomes they have created for sale on this site; their work represents a variety of themes, materials, techniques and processes. Each book they have made is, in essence, representative of the student artist who created it and every edition for sale on this site is a one-off.i
Originally, the outcomes you see for sale here on this site were due to be exhibited and sold at the highly regarded Turn the Page Artists Book Fair 2020 in Norwich, UK. Unfortunately, as with all public gatherings in Great Britain, Turn the Page was cancelled due to the Covid1-19 Pandemic. Clearly, this was a huge disappointment to both staff and students alike, but in spite of the real-world restrictions we currently face, Tetrad decided to take their exhibition and sale online. Nothing can stand in the way of creativity.
Elaine, Eleanor, James and Sarah have all created innovative and exciting pieces that seek to challenge what a book can be. They are excited to be able to offer their work for sale in the digital realm and look forward to hearing from you. Thank you for visiting their site.
